Classroom Setup Day 2

So yesterday, Day 1 of classroom setup, started with an anxiety attack.  Today, not so bad.  Although I didn't get to cross everything off my to-do list, I did get a bunch of stuff done.  I have a bunch more pictures, and I'll apologize in advance for the blurriness, I must have had a smudge on the lens!  In the first picture you can see my whole calendar wall.  The yellow boards on the right and left sides are old magnetic chalkboards.  Last year I spent a crazy amount of time covering them with yellow contact paper.  I used to try to cover them with bulletin board paper and tried a gazillion different ways to make that stick, with very little success.  The contact paper works!  So everything on the yellow boards has magnets on the back.  I found that using the little magnetic business card magnets works wonders!  Here's a couple of close-ups of the boards, again, sorry for the BLUR!

On this, the middle board, you can see two white sheets of paper, one has tens frames on it.  Every day as part of our calendar routine we add a tally mark on the blank sheet, and we add a sticker to the tens frame.  It's good daily practice for tallies and tens frames.  Counting them every day is also great practice.  Here's what they look like at the end of the year (excuse the end of the year mess!).

If you're interested, you can snag the tallies and tens frames printables FREEBIE in my TpT store.  Here's a look:

I use these little smiley face stickers for the tens frames.

So what else did I get accomplished today?  Well, I got all of my book bins organized and placed in my classroom library.  I used to have a few comfy chairs and cute rugs, but now that I teach inclusion with a co-teacher, I had to downsize so she could fit her desk in my room.

I got the student desks arranged the way I like.  A modified U layout.

I also got my teacher computer re-hooked to the smartboard and speakers so that I could rock out to Pandora while I worked away!  Got my printer hooked up too.

I got the wiry mess of student computers untangled and got all of the student computers up and running and they even have internet connection, which doesn't always happen easily in my really old building.

I did mention yesterday that my building is really, really old right?  Well today I snapped a picture of the plaque that adorns one of our walls. Erected 1917-1918.  Yep, this place is O-L-D!
Old buildings have lots of faults, but they also have some charms too.  Really high ceilings, which make the rooms feel bigger.  Old fashioned coat closets with storage for days.  Actual brass doorknobs.  Built in storage cabinets with sliding glass doors, O-L-D glass, fragile glass, which is why mine are covered with contact paper!  LOL

Notice something missing with these ordinal numbers?  Seriously, how did 8th, 9th, 10th, and 18th, 19th, and 20th just disappear?? Aggravating!
Focus wall for math and writing behind the student computers.

I did not take a picture of my hot mess of a teacher table.  That was on today's to-do list and is not to-done!  LOL  Good luck with your setups if you're in the same mode as I am!  I'll post more pictures next week.  ☺ Happy Friday!
